RV Trip Wizard Trip Routing/Planning

RV Trip Wizard is an awesome website for trip planning. Here’s how I use RVtripwizard.com to map out and route our trips.

Once you have signed up for an account on RV Trip Wizard, you can develop a new trip.

Name your trip and choose a date to leave. If you don’t have a date, you can still create it and it will show up in your pending trip area. Then click on “Create”.

You can start at your location or search for a starting location as I have here. Then click on “Start Here”.

Enter your General Trip Information. Then click on “RV Info”.

Enter your RV info. You can either enter it manually or look up your RV and it will enter the info automatically. Then click on “Routing and Driving”.

Choose what type of Routing you want. If you choose “RV Routing”, and then you choose “Use Routing Engine Estimate” down below in the “Driving Time Estimates”, it will estimate driving time according to what RV Trip Wizard estimates your RV will do. But if you choose “Standard Routing” it will do standard Routing as if in a car.

You can turn on any types of roads you want to avoid (Tolls, Ferries, etc.)

Then choose your “Driving Time Estimates”. As I mentioned, if you choose “Use Routing Engine Estimate”, it will estimate as I mentioned, but if you choose “Use My Average Driving Speed”, you can choose whatever speed you want and it will estimate your time at that speed.

Scroll down.

If you want your map to show driving radius, here is where you will set these up. If you don’t want it, just click on “Don’t show a radius” and you can choose “Average Hours Per Day” down below to see where you would want to go next.

I always choose this feature. I love this feature. I use it so I can see how far things are from each campground and can decide where I want to go for the next campground. I like to put 50, 100, and 150 miles for my radii, but you can set them to whatever you choose.

If you choose “Show Advanced Driving Radius”, it will show the radii taking into consideration roads. This is what it would look like.

If, instead of advanced, you choose “”Show Classic Driving Radius”, it will look like this. Next click on the “Expenses” tab at the top.

Here you can enter what you would like your expenses to be. Now you can click on “Save Trip Settings”.

Here’s your map now, showing your starting site. You can zoom out to see your radii. You can now enter your next stop.

If you already know where you want to go next, you can enter it into the search box.

You can also use this site to look for campsites by showing campsites on the map. To do that click on “Map Settings”. And the turn on “Show Campgrounds”. You can click on any campground and see details. There is a lot more you can do here. Play around with this and see what you can do.

Enter your next stop into the search box. If the following is what pops up, it is because RV Trip Wizard Map doesn’t have info on it so you will need to add the stop manually. To do so, click on “More Details” and you will be able to add it.

If the following is not what comes up, skip to the next note.

Here you can add your stop info. Add the name of the campground, how many days you want to stay and where in the order you want this stop to be. If you want it to be the next stop, you will leave the choice as is, to be after the last stop.

If, however, the following comes up, it is because RV Trip Wizard does have info on that site. You can click on “Park Details”. To see info.

Here is what will come up and you can click on many areas and get a lot of info on the campground. Once you are done looking at all the info go back to it and click on the X to close the info.

Now you can add this stop if you wish by clicking on “Add to Trip”.

Now you can see your trip so far on the map.

To see info on your trip click on “Trip” at the bottom of your page. Here is what you will see. It tells you how many miles and how much time between stops.

You can click on any one of your stops and add more info. You can also delete the stop here. To add info, click on the pencil icon.

You can change how many days you want to stay, add cost of the camp and anything else you want.

You can scroll down and add comments. Once you are done, click on “Save”.

Have fun exploring and using this tool!
